Thursday, October 9: "Random Order: The Art and Life of Robert Rauschenberg"
Join Figge for this lecture at 7 pm. The lecture will provide an overview of Robert Rauschenberg's career as one of the leading figures of the New York avant-garde with emphasis on his work in collage, assemblage, and printmaking during the late 1950s and 1960s. Presented by Gregory Gilbert, PhD. Free for members or general admission.

Saturday, October 11: Opening of Day of the Dead or El Día de los Muertos exhibition
El Día de los Muertos is a Mexican cultural tradition where family and friends gather to celebrate the lives of relatives and friends who have passed away. Rituals that celebrate deaths of ancestors can be traced back 3,000 years. Traditionally families would create altars to welcome the spirits of the deceased home that would include photographs, items and favorite foods of the departed person. This exhibition features a variety of altars that celebrate the Day of the Dead. Free for members or general admission.
 
Saturday, October 18: Opening of Decoy Masterworks of the Illinois River exhibition
In this exhibition, waterfowl lovers and decoy collectors alike will be delighted by about 50 famed decoys created from 1860-1940. Displays will also explore waterfowl and their habitats, hunting, and methods and tools used in wood carving. The exhibition is open through February 2009. Free for members or general admission.
 
Saturday, October 18: Anime Fest and Manga Art Show
Quad-Cities Libraries and the Figge Art Museum are organizing the first annual Teen Anime Fest and Manga Art Show. The event runs from 12:30 - 4 pm and will feature entries from teens ages 12 - 18. Several activities are planned including a film, workshop, and reception.  Admission is $5.
 
Sunday, October 19: Gallery Talk: In the Light
Join Figge for this gallery talk at 1:30 pm. The talk will also include an overview of Figge's In the Light exhibition which features several photographs by mid-20th century American photographers who used stroboscope photography, darkroom manipulation, light and exposure, or abstraction. Free for members or general admission.
